Contra dancing in the Triangle centers on Carrboro and Durham, always with live music and a walk-through so beginners can join. Raleigh has the biggest spread of styles in the Triangle: ballroom and shag socials, salsa and bachata nights at bars and studios, country swing, and weekend workshops. Glenwood South and North Hills are the busiest pockets. Free nights are usually bar or community-hall socials; tip the DJ or band if you can.
